We intend to achieve this memorial monument with the moral, financial and material help of numerous private and public physical and juridical persons, both from the country, but also from abroad.

The project THE MEMORIAL MILLENNIUM MONUMENT ROMANIA "LCM" will mark the passing to the new millennium in Romania.

The structure of the monument will consist of two geometrical bodies superposed:

  1. The bottom of the construction, the PEDESTAL will have the form of a polyhedron with the bases - regular rectangles of 10 equal sides, convex decagons.
  2. On top of the pedestal, there will be raised a pyramid symbolizing "the pyramid of the human knowledge", inside of which it will be a cross, the symbol of the fact that at the basis of the civilized existence of the mankind, it was, it is and it will be the religion. (Sketch No. 1)

The pedestal will have thick walls, both outside and inside, of reinforced concrete and will be partly buried, partly overground. The cost of the whole operation, beeing covered by sponsoring (national or international, including from Romanians abroad), the monument’s sizes will be projected and achieved according to the financial means at hand.

For the moment, the project was concieved as follows:

The pyramid, which will have a metallic structure, covered by glass and plexyglass, will have as base a square with a 7 m side and a height of 7 m, also. The cross, metallic too, will be placed in the centre and will have the arms at 3 meters from the peak and, respectively, at 4 meters from the base.

Each of the 10 equal sides will be of approximately 5 meters and the pedestal will have a height (overground) of about 3 meters, resulting so 10 exhibition’s panels of white marble and bronze.

The main panel, through which, the visitors will be admited, Romania’s panel, is going to display, beside the map of the country, general geographical, historical, religious, cultural and sportive data, from the past and of the present, as well as the personalities who marked our history throughout the first two milleniums.

The other 9 panels will be dedicated, with the same aim in view, to the 9 historical provinces of our country: Walahia, Moldavia, Transylvania, Banat, Chrishana, Maramuresh, Oltenia, Bucovina and Dobrodja. (Sketch No. 2).

The internal part of the pedestal will be made up of 3 storerooms and a visiting hall. In the storerooms, in tight cylinders of stainless steelwell, will be placed "our collective memory":

  • The "L" chamber (from the Roman figure for 50), or the "Red Room", situated on the left of the entrance, will be opened after 50 years, on the 1-st of December 2050, or the 1-th of January 2053 (so, some of our contemporaries will be witness of this interesting event).
  • The "C" chamber (from the Roman figure for 100) or the "YELLOW ROOM" placed in the centre, before the entrance, will be opened after 100 years, on the 1-st of December 2100 or the 1-st of January 2103, and
  • the "M" Chamber (from the roman figure for 1000) or the "BLUE ROOM", after 1000 years, on the 1-st of December 3000 or 1-st of January 3003 (Sketch No. 3).

The halls of the visiting hall will be plated, also, with black marble and bronze plates, on which there will be exhibit data about the projecting, the contents and the achievement of the monument, as well as the lists of the sponsors and depositors.

The cylinders placed in the three chambers will contain individual or collective messages, of historical or personal, sentimental importance, addressed to our descendants: letters, hopes, regrets, objects, photos, ideas, audio and video messages, poems, pictures, objects of national and (or) international importance, icons, religious objects, songs, folklore objects, diaries, decorations, medals, handicraft ware.

Also, the state institutions, private firms or even natural persons who want to keep and deliver into the future a larger volume of written, audio or registered informations, will have these data stoked by digital technique recording on CD/DVD-Rom.

The tight cylinders will be then filled with fluid argon or nitrogen. By past to the main depositing spaces, will be also provided spaces for the possible depositors from abroad. To each depositor and sponsor there will be remited a participation diploma and a plaquette, containing the exact setting of the cylinder in the respective chamber or chambers.

After the opening of the first two chambers, the visiting hall will be filled Up with wet earth and well compacted and then the pedestal will be sealed for 900 years more.
